Murder of Crows
Interactive murder mystery show blending dance, theatre, and comedy
Murder of Crows is a movement-based narrative piece centered around a late-night soiree that unexpectedly evolves into a murder mystery dystopia. This dark comedic ballet follows a homicide investigation of four characters who share a night of drinks and dance, unaware of a murder taking place behind the scenes.
Inspired by early 1940s film noir, Murder of Crows explores the cynical attitudes and motivations of each character and their relationships to one another as they begin to unravel secrets that float between them and find themselves haphazardly navigating a fantasy world inside a murder mystery mansion. Sex, lies, and secrets set the seductive tone to this mystery, which draws from elements and characteristics of film noir, reinterpreting the stylized camera work, lighting, flashbacks, and existential philosophy of the genre in a live performance of dance theater.
This work is set to the French jazz-funk album Troupeau Bleu by Cortex.
