God's Country
Dark, brooding dance show inspired by the music of the band Chat Pile
God's Country is an hour-long dance piece inspired by the music of the punk rock band Chat Pile, and takes its name from their debut album. The show explores the “American horror story” described in Chat Pile's music, and reimagines their attempts "to capture the anxiety and fear of seeing the world fall apart" through dance, built on the grief, fear, and anger that stem from from society’s apathy towards homelessness and mental illness.
The show follows the journey of a man suffering from years of hardships, hallucinating on drugs while his house burns to the ground, reflecting on his life in the midwest.
